Every so often, someone sends me a message that stops me in my tracks—and this week, that someone was a quilter I admire named J Quilter.
Here’s what she wrote:
“Emily, I have to tell you that after many emails & buying several of your sweet fabric items—all of which have inspired me with legacy quilt inspiration—a dear friend who has been a lifelong embroidery genius, has recently been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. Her husband asked me to start coming weekly to visit, talk, and help keep her engaged.
For over a year now, I’ve ‘showed up’—week after week—and we’ve talked about life and her sewing legacy. Yesterday, she gifted me her Christmas fabric stash and told me how much she wished she had started more of her counted cross stitch. I encouraged her to just do what she could to get one more section done… and give God the glory for each day she could sew.”
Cue the tears.
