Settling Into My New Normal
Hi Quilting Friend,
I’ve spent this week doing something I haven’t truly been able to do in a long time…
I started organizing my quilting studio.
Not just tidying.
Not just moving piles around.
I mean really going through boxes — boxes from the old Norton House retail shop, boxes I tucked away three years ago when my life turned upside down, boxes I couldn’t even look at without feeling that familiar ache in my chest.
Grief is a funny, unpredictable thing.
For so long, I lived in survival mode… doing the bare minimum, sewing when my heart needed a soft place to land, going on little out-of-town adventures to give my mind a break, showing up for the Table Topper Club, packing your fabric orders, and quietly sorting one box at a time.
But this week something shifted.
As I pulled out old fabric bundles, forgotten fat quarters, and beautiful 1-yard cuts — I realized I’m finally starting to settle into my “new normal” in a way I never have before.
Not moving on… just moving forward.
And it feels like I’m finally ready to show up for myself — and for you — the way life is supposed to be lived: with a little more steadiness, a little more joy, and a lot more heart.
